Position Duties & Responsibilities

This Operation Analyst II is in the Regional Communications Center office within the Florida Highway Patrol. This position provides guidance and support to the Regional Communications Centers throughout the State. This position assists in the supervision, planning, researching, and coordinating of operational reviews. This position is also responsible for assisting with developing, implementing, and monitoring of procedures and coordinating training activities.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of computer aided dispatching methods, systems, and equipment as applied to law enforcement, fire, and EMS dispatching.
  • Skill in developing procedural documents, metrics, and key performance indicators through the understanding of emergency communication operations and industry standards/best practices.
  • Ability to interpret and explain policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to speak publicly and make presentations to diverse groups, responding to questions on behalf of the Communication Centers and FHP.
  • Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions.
  • Skill in recognizing operational efficiencies and developing improved operating and telecommuting procedures.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties independently without close supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with a diverse population to include the public, staff, and other criminal justice agency personnel.
  • Ability to operate and utilize specialized Department equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Ability to compile and assimilate moderately complex data, information and statistics and prepare reports, assessments, and records.
  • Knowledge of the regulations and procedures of State and national crime information centers.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Suites, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with:

  • Experience compiling and recording data utilizing spreadsheets.
  • Experience researching, analyzing, and compiling data.
  • Experience coordinating complex assignments.

 

Job Related Requirements

  • The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background check, along with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance, to include a fingerprint-based check of the criminal records of the FBI, as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes.  Please note that, since this position requires CJIS clearance, the Department will have access to all an applicant’s criminal and juvenile delinquency records, even those that have been sealed or expunged.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have and maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing. This means there can be no cancellations, suspensions, or revocations for a minimum of three years prior to employment and for the duration of employment. There can be no more than three chargeable crashes or any violation of Chapter 316, Florida Statutes, during any consecutive three-year period prior to and throughout employment.
  • Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) Certification.
  • National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Certification.
  • Driver and Vehicle Information Database (DAVID) Certification.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Incumbent must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Overnight travel.
  • This position may be required to work hours outside of the normal work schedule, to include evenings and/or weekends.

 

General Information

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI.  Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
