Your Specific Responsibilities:
Communicates with, motivates, trains, and evaluates employees in addition to planning and directing employees’ work.
Develops performance expectations, meets with staff regularly to discuss performance, and completes performance reviews.
Promotes staff development by providing opportunities for continuing education to ensure staff knowledge and competence.
Plans, organizes, and directs programs including, but not limited to maternal health, pediatric and adult dental, pediatric and adult immunizations, school health, pap screening, family planning, WIC, breast and cervical cancer early detection program and substance abused newborns and mothers program.
Assesses the needs of programs and complies with the county and state goals and program objectives.
Provide audit oversight and ensures programmatic reports are submitted to state and local agencies as required.
Analyzes present programs, plans for future needs, makes recommendations for programs in accordance with agency objectives, community needs and available resources.
Contributes to the update and creation of local procedures and continually evaluates the quality and quantity of the personal health services programs
Serves on county and community advisory boards. Represents the health department by participating in various community meetings. Maintains good working relationships with community agencies.
Plans for nursing students to observe and have some experience in various clinics throughout the health department.
Performs related duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Nursing Principles and Procedures, Knowledge of Public Health programs, policies and procedures, Ability to supervise employees
Qualifications:
Minimum – Three years Supervisory and Public Health experience
Preferred – Bachelors degree or higher in Nursing, Experience with budgets, Knowledge of multiple computer programs
