Your Specific Responsibilities:
- Provides oral health screening/assessment
- Applies sealants to permanent teeth.
- Applies fluoride varnish to teeth surfaces
- Provides oral hygiene instruction and other services which do not involve diagnosis or treatment of dental conditions
- Provides education and training to children, parents/guardians, teachers, and staff
- Records health history, services provided, assessment findings, recommendations
- Provides referral information and resources to parents
- Obtains informed content from parent/guardian in advance of oral health screening/treatment
- Provides parent/guardian with results of the assessment and recommendations for additional care
- Assists families in finding a dental home and in navigating barriers to oral health care and treatment
- Manages care of students who require complex treatment or have financial or other barriers to care
- Sets up and disassembles portable dental equipment weighing up to 40 lb.
- Cleans, disinfects, and maintains dental equipment
- Tracks supply and submits purchase requests for dental and office supplies as needed
- Works under the clinical supervision of a FLDOH Dentist and reports to the Dental Program Manager
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to provide dental screenings, apply fluoride and provide oral hygiene instructions.
- Familiar with CPT codes and dental billing procedures
- Experience with set-up and troubleshooting portable dental equipment
- Familiar with tele dentistry procedures
- Knowledge of computers for data entry, Microsoft Office software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), electronic medical records.
- Able to lift 40 pounds
- Able to travel to schools throughout county using county vehicle.
Qualifications:
- Current Florida Dental Hygienist License
- Valid Driver’s License, if out of state, a valid Florida Driver's License is required within 30 days of hire
- Willing to travel to various locations in Brevard County
- Physically able to lift up to 40 lbs
