Your Specific Responsibilities:

Acts as Vital Statistics Deputy Registrar providing guidance on the provision of the Vital Statistics laws and regulations to hospital birth certifier’s county wide, funeral homes and the public. Ensures the completeness and accuracy   of this process through proper reviewing of documents before processing, in compliance with Florida Statues and regulations.   Follows general policies and procedures of issuing birth and death certificates, collects fees from public, controls and secures accountable serialized documents certificates; maintains and accounts for cash and other fiscal instruments, and works with the public in person and via telephone.    Works with funeral home directors, hospitals and other entities that provide information to the State of Florida regarding birth and death records.  Performs other administrative support of the Vital Statistics program.  Follows all State of Florida and Brevard County Health Department rules, regulations and policies in processing birth/death certifications and associated forms and in handling files and records.  Communicates with courtesy, respect and understanding in dealing with clients, public and staff. Conducts cash drawer audits and safety paper audits when assigned.  Accurately processes specific service billings through the eVitals systems, post payment and reconciles fees collected.

This position works a minimum of 20 hours per week with the potential of 40 hours per week based on staffing needs. Scheduled hours are 10 am to 2 pm Monday through Friday and will be available to fill in for staff on vacation and on sick leave.

OTHER DUTIES: Other administrative duties are assigned by direct supervisor as needed. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience assisting clients by phone or in person, reviewing documents with confidential information, handling cash and operating credit/debit card machines.

Qualifications:

Minimum – Experience with customer service, working with confidential information, handling cash, operating credit/debit card machines.

Preferred - Speak/read Spanish is preferred.
