Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities.
  • Supervisory responsibilities include communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees' work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets.
  • Performs duties to ensure that the WIC clinic runs smoothly, and policies and procedures are followed.
  • Evaluates clinical, anthropometrics, and nutritional data of persons applying for the WIC Program to determine eligibility and provides individual nutrition education and counseling to low risk, high risk, and medically high-risk clients with documentation in electronic medical record.
  • Educates, supports, and promotes breastfeeding, makes referrals to lactation staff.
  • Provides clients referrals to community resources.
  • Performs anthropometrics (heights and weights) and hematological testing as needed on
    Women, Infants and Children.
  • Promotes WIC though participation in community outreach events.
  • Attends staff meetings, conferences, special nutrition workshops, seminars, and trainings.
  • Maintains current Nutritionist/Dietitian Licensure by the State of Florida Department of
    Professional Regulation.
  • Must be willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours in the event of an
    emergency. This includes emergency duties including, but not limited to, response to threats
    involving any disaster, man-made or natural.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with the major course of study in nutritional science, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, or dietetics in accordance with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Association and Florida Chapter 468.
  • Must have a current/active license, in good standing, as a Dietitian or Nutritionist in the State of Florida issued by the Division of Medical Quality Assurance.
  • This position requires a willingness to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours in the event of an emergency. This includes emergency duties including, but not limited to, response to threats involving any disaster, man-made or natural.
  • Must have at least two year of nutrition-related work experience.

 

Preferred:

  • Preferred WIC experience.
  • Preferred 1 year or more of supervisory, management, or leadership experience.
  • Preferred ability to fluently read, write, and speak both English and Spanish and/or Creole.
