The incumbent if part of a global public health organization and is expected to support the Florida Department of Health in Hardee County in its mission to protect, promote, and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county and community efforts and its vision to be the Healthiest State in the Nation. Furthermore, the incumbent is expected to incorporate the agency values of Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Responsiveness and Excellence in all aspects of their work.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position is partially funded through the Tobacco Free Florida Grant and is prohibited from using tobacco in any form. Duties of the position include but are not limited to:
Tobacco Free Moms and Babies
- Ensures deliverables are met for assigned policy initiatives for the grant.
- Serves as the point of contact for assigned policy initiatives.
- Collects, analyzes, and presents data to ensure program outcomes.
- Provides support to team member(s) working on other policy initiatives and the SWAT program.
- Promotes a tobacco-free lifestyle in the community.
- Participates in meetings promoting the mission of Tobacco Free Moms and Babies program.
- Works with AHEC to schedule and promote cessation classes for pregnant and postpartum moms and family members.
- Works with local media outlets to promote Embrace for Both program messaging.
Minority Health Program
- Participates in the Office of Minority Health monthly Liaison meetings.
- Develops strategies to promote DOH services in the community.
- Participates in community outreach events and activities involving the community.
- Serves as a representative to the agency’s Performance Management Council and Workforce Development Team
- Ensures a county coalition is in place and meets regularly to address needs of the county.
- Reports on objective and activity progress to the Community Health Improvement Plan group.
- Develops and maintain a comprehensive list of partners serving populations.
- Regularly disseminate information to the appropriate partners regarding training, resources, events, grant opportunities, etc.
- Maintains documentation of disseminated resources.
- Identifies and coordinates with county-level programs as needed to support any plan(s).
- Monitors progress of the implementation of assigned plan and submits reports to Central Office as required
- Ensures appropriate plan(s) are up to date.
- Works to provide optimal health for all residents of Hardee County
- Partners with other community-based organizations and members to complete objectives identified in plan(s).

- Prepares and maintains regular reports and records describing activities in the assigned area of responsibility.
- Maintains computer competency necessary for job performance.
- Submits EARS and timesheets accurately and on time.
- Conducts special projects and supports administrative and management activities.

Other job-related requirements for this position:
Emergency Duty – Incumbent may be required to work during or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Required duties may include working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or the performance of other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or activities involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
