This is an OPS COVID-19 REGISTERED NURSE position with the Department of Health (DOH) in Hardee County, and functions as an RN for the COVID-19 Initiative. This position primarily works COVID-19 testing sites and is expected to provide COVID-19 related information and educate patients on ways to stay healthy and prevent spread of infection.

 

Multiple positions will be filled with this posting.

 

$30.00 an hour – average of 40 hours per week.  Weekends, weekdays and evenings.

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

The incumbent is part of a global public health organization and is expected to support the Florida Department of Health in Polk County in its mission to protect, promote, and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county and community efforts and its vision to be the Healthiest State in the Nation.   • The individual in this role will conduct field work at COVID-19 testing sites, including set-up, breakdown, and recovery of equipment and supplies at designated sites, specimen collections, and packing specimens for shipment.
  • Providing and assisting with specimen collection at community testing events and specialized locations. 
  • Assists with set-up, breakdown, and recovery of equipment and supplies at designated sites. 
  • Preparing and packing specimens for shipment.   
  • Contacting and informing patients of negative test results. 
  • Performs other tasks as needed.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of confidentiality
  • Ability to explain COVID-19, principles of exposure, infection, infectious period, high-risk interactions, symptoms of the disease, and prevention and control interventions.
  • Tactful interpersonal and interviewing skills.
  • Ability to communicate with clients who may be difficult to reach or reluctant to engage in conversation.
  • Awareness of various cultures and sensitivities.
  • Understanding of when to refer an individual to medical, social, or supervisory resources.

 

Qualifications:

  • A Valid Florida driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation.
  • Professional licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with the Florida Administrative Code 210-8.22 or 8.27 or possess a nursing multi-state license through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
