SPECIAL NOTES:
High School Diploma or equivalency is required.
Additional requirements:
- Valid Florida driver’s license.
- Three (3) years’ experience in the construction, installation, inspection, operation, maintenance, or repair of high pressure, high temperature water boilers.
- Certificate of Competency in accordance with F. S. 554.106 required after first year of employment.
Preference:
- National Board Commission to inspect boilers.

This position will be hired at the annual salary of $48,667.56.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of Chapter 554, FS; Chapter 69A-51, FAC; ASME code sections I Rules for Construction of Power Boilers; IV Rules for Construction of Heating Boilers; VI Recommended Rules for the Care and Operation of Heating Boilers; B31.1 Power Piping; VII Recommended Rules for the Care of Power Boilers; CSD-1 Controls and Safety Devices for Automatically Fired Boilers; and the National Board Inspection Code as adopted by Rule. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to properly document boiler inspections, accidents, investigations, and quality control activities using sketches, diagrams, photography, and reports as appropriate. Analyze and recommend modifications to adopted rules and policy and procedures related to the boiler safety program. Use and manage time effectively. Conduct research and prepare reports related for topics related to Boiler Safety. Ability to follow written instructions, and promulgated policies and procedures. Ability to create agendas and customized presentations to stakeholder groups for public outreach purposes. Ability to safely operate motor vehicle. Other KSAs: Ability to effectively use CitizenServe database to record all activities related to inspections, inquiries and communication, public outreach, and quality control. Ability to use Microsoft Word; Excel; PowerPoint; SharePoint software programs.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Conduct boiler inspections related to the requirements of Chapter 554, FS and Chapter 69A-51, FAC for uninsured boilers located in places of public assembly in assigned areas.
Prepares reports on all boilers inspected using prescribed forms. Conducts follow-up inspections to ensure satisfactory correction of violations. Schedules inspections to ensure efficient use of resources and time.
Provides customer service to stakeholders such as boiler owners, installers, mechanics, and special inspectors to further boiler safety and code compliance.
Conducts regulatory enforcement inspections and actions.
Conducts public outreach activities to advance the goal of boiler safety. Prepares presentations and materials related to boiler safety based on audiences such as boiler owners, property managers, boiler installers, boiler repairs companies, boiler users, other inspecting agencies, and the general public.
Identifies unregistered boilers falling under the scope of Chapter, 554, FS.
Conducts quality control activities as prescribed.
Prepares and submits daily, weekly, and monthly reports in a timely manner. Supports activities related to accreditations held or pursued by the section, Bureau, Division, or Department. Other duties as assigned.
