Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6 years of professional experience in training, education, stakeholder management, community outreach, conservation education, staff development, or an agency program area or
  • Substitution of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of professional experience in training, education, stakeholder management, community outreach, conservation education, staff development, or
  • Substitution of a master's degree from an accredited college or university, or
  • A doctorate from an accredited college or university can substitute for the required experience.

 

Requirements:

  • Possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver License.
  • Statewide travel is required to perform the duties of this position (1-25%).
  • Full-time, 40 hours/week; 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (ET); Monday to Friday. May require work time outside of regularly scheduled hours, over 40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.
  • Employment in this position is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal history check (fingerprint-based) in accordance with Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. The criminal history check must be completed prior to or within the first three days of employment.
  • Within six months of employment, successful completion of Boater Safety certification, Hunter Safety certification, First Aid/CPR/AED, USA Archery Instructor Trainer certification, ACA Level 2 Kayak Instructor Trainer certification, and FWC Trailer Training course.

 

Overview:

This full-time Career Service position is based in the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s (FWC) Office of Conservation Engagement and Education’s (CEE) Florida Youth Conservation Centers Network (FYCCN), serving as the Southeast Partnership Coordinator.

FYCCN is seeking a self-motivated, energetic, outcome-oriented individual to serve as the Southeast Partnership Coordinator. Interested individuals must be passionate about getting youth outside to create the next generation that cares about fish and wildlife resources. Incumbent will be responsible for effectively communicating, training, and working with a wide range of partners, including but not limited to private landowners, volunteers, youth, parents, governmental organizations, and non-governmental organizations.

The successful candidate will join a dedicated statewide team that works to ‘create the next generation that cares’ about conservation. FYCCN has numerous conservation centers, a team of regional partnership coordinators, the Project WILD program, and hundreds of Partners who work together to encourage youth in conserving Florida’s fish and wildlife. We support the delivery of programming that embodies the four pillars of the FYCCN: Shooting Sports, Fishing, Boating, and Wildlife Discovery.

The Southeast Partnership Coordinator will join a team of experienced Regional Partnership Coordinators, located in Gainesville, Lakeland, Miami, Ocala, St. Petersburg, and Tallahassee. The ideal candidate must be passionate about getting youth and families outside and engaged in conservation education. The incumbent must have excellent communication skills with colleagues, stakeholders, constituents, and partners, and perform the functions of this position with a strong understanding of the FYCCN’s mission, future goals, and thorough knowledge and application of FYCCN practices.

Persons with good listening and writing skills, experience with matrix management, and the ability to multitask at a high level are encouraged to apply. This position is not eligible for recurring telework.

 

 Description of Duties:

  • Examine, organize, and plan effective youth conservation programs for a diverse group of stakeholders, constituents, and partners
  • Serve as a Regional Partnership Coordinator
  • Motivate a diverse range of partners to actively engage in youth fishing, boating, shooting sports, wildlife discovery, and conservation stewardship activities
  • Identify, foster, and leverage partnership opportunities to reach diverse audiences
  • Act as liaison between regional partners and FYCCN administration
  • Plan and conduct meetings with potential partners to identify training needs, knowledge, and abilities
  • Convey FYCCN’s and FWC’s visions through effective writing and oral communication
  • Responsible for disseminating FYCCN conservation education resources and youth programming opportunities
  • Evaluate education programs and conservation activity opportunities at FYCCN partner sites
  • Assist with integration of FYCCN educational curricula, family activities, conservation programs, and centers/camps into individual partner sites
  • Conduct trainings and provide instruction to partner staff and volunteer instructors to enhance fishing, boating, wildlife discovery, and shooting sports offerings
  • Work with FWC Divisions and Offices to encourage agency involvement with youth conservation education programs
  • Identify and prioritize materials and equipment needs at partner sites and coordinate equipment distribution
  • Oversee equipment loan program and ensure maintenance of program equipment
  • Administrative Duties: Attend staff meetings, complete and submit required reports, participate in professional development courses, and complete timesheets in a timely and thorough manner. Assure that files and documentation are complete, accurate, and confidentially maintained; and, perform other duties as required.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of fishing, shooting sports, wildlife discovery, and boating.
  • Experience with firearms, archery equipment, hunting, and shooting sports, and in volunteer management preferred
  • Skilled in operational planning, delegation, and collaborative team building, public speaking, and using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments
  • Ability to be a team player and work integrally with various stakeholders, partners, and government agencies
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to work independently, to take initiative, and work creatively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate clearly, verbally, and in writing
  • Ability to deal professionally and sensitively with a diverse audience and a wide range of contacts at different levels
  • Ability to adjust to and use new approaches in the performance of duties
  • Ability to travel, enter and exit a vehicle or/and vessel without assistance, lift 55 pounds, and withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions
