Southeast Region Operations & Management Consultant Manager (MDT Manager)

 

About the position

The Operations & Management Consultant Manager position is a highly responsible, independent managerial position involving advanced professional work supervising and directing Multi-Disciplinary Team employees in the Southeast Region of Florida. The role focuses on communication, motivation, training, and evaluation of employees, as well as planning and directing their work. The incumbent has the authority to recommend various personnel actions and is responsible for ensuring the accomplishment of programmatic and managerial goals. The MDT Team provides direct support to frontline staff facilitating the collaborative work of multidisciplinary team (MDT) staffings.  The position will also coordinate and facilitate multidisciplinary staffings.  

 

Location

The successful candidate will have the ability to work from any service center within the SER.

 

Salary

Salary is based upon internal salary guidelines related to appointment policy.  

 

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct MDT employees in the Southeast Region.
  • Communicate with, motivate, train, and evaluate employees.
  • Plan and direct work assignments for staff.
  • Recommend actions such as hiring, transferring, suspending, or promoting employees.
  • Evaluate employees against established standards and take appropriate actions.
  • Ensure coordination and facilitation of multidisciplinary staffings.
  • Review Florida Statutes, DCF Operational Procedures, polices, and related directives for impact on Child Protection, in order to keep staff up to date and analyze and evaluate impact on operations.
  • Identify improvements and implement adjustments to ensure program effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Monitor and ensure accomplishment of programmatic and managerial goals and objectives.
  • Assist with implementing strategies to enhance and increase field performance.
  • Handle investigations of special incidents and/or complaints regarding Department programs.
  • Attend and participate in community projects/meetings.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with governmental officials and community service organizations.
  • Ensure staff maintain an organized tracking system for multidisciplinary staffings.
  • Assist Program Administrators in the management and operation of Child Protection through evaluation and observations of MDT Coordinators’ ability to coordinate and facilitate multidisciplinary staffings and provide required notifications and written reports to all related entities including Children’s Legal Services and DCF Regional Designees.
  • Provide training and technical assistance as needed to all levels of Child Protection staff and ensure compliance with processes and procedures as well as provide support to the Program Administrators, Operations Managers, Children’s Legal Services, the CBC, and the Director of Child Protection. 
  • Coordinate and facilitate multidisciplinary staffings.
  • Utilize conflict resolution and collaborative problem-solving techniques.
  • Conduct special quality assurance reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position: 

Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis.  Knowledge of basic management principles and practices.  Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflow and other activities relating to the improvement of operational and management practices.  Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials.  Ability to conduct fact-finding research.  Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.  Ability to work independently.  Working knowledge of federal and state laws regarding child welfare.  Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to operational and management analysis activities.  Ability to plan, organizes, and coordinates work assignments.  Ability to communicate effectively.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Proficiency in CCWIS and FSFN.    Experience in Microsoft Office, familiar with the child welfare system, excellent written and oral communication skills; strong interpersonal skills relative to diverse populations in academic, public health, and community settings. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing deadlines.  Extensive knowledge of child abuse, neglect and maltreatment, professional experience in child protection programs, knowledge of the child welfare safety practice model, and a strong working knowledge of applicable performance and process management principles and practices.  Ability to analyze and address complex investigative activities regarding child protective investigations.

 

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree
  2. Current/active Child Protection Certification from the FCB
  3. Minimum of 5 years of child welfare experience, with 3 years in child protective investigations.
  4. Proficiency in CCWIS, FSFN, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
