What you will do:

 

This advanced professional position will coordinate and administer in-service training and professional development programs for Child Protective Investigation Professionals by providing leadership, coaching, mentoring, and hands on training in accordance to the Department’s mission and the Region’s vision in building and maintaining a world class workforce. This position requires extensive knowledge of the dynamics of child abuse and neglect, laws rules and applicable policies that guide practice, as well as work experience in child welfare programs. The incumbent must have the skills needed to review cases, review and analyze data obtained through reviews to address complex management and systemic problems and formulate recommendations for effective solutions, including staff development and training curriculum design and delivery.

 

The position has regional responsibility and requires travel from Indian River County to Broward County.

 

The position will work in collaboration with management and CPI Supervisors in promoting the development of knowledge, skills, and their application by:

 

  • Identifying current and future learning opportunities by consulting with management, supervisors, and conducting surveys, analyzing performance gaps and needs.
  • Creating instructional content and in-service training modules
  • Delivering in-service workshops, facilitating learning sessions and ensuring staff gain practical skills and knowledge applicable to their roles
  • Organizing schedules, logistics and collaboration with subject matter experts as well as maintaining individual records of staff participation.
  • Monitoring effectiveness of trainings through assessments, surveys and performance matrix
  • Observing, analyzing, and evaluating individual CPI performance to determine their effectiveness and level of competency and providing recommendations to regional management regarding actions to improve performance.
  • Serving as a member of leadership team responsible for developing system-based solutions to CPI training and development issues or concerns.

 

This position will also support workforce stability by analyzing retention data such as turnover trends, unit-level patterns, and reasons for leaving. The incumbent will utilize workforce feedback mechanisms to assess satisfaction and culture and identify training needs, provide targeted training or coaching to leadership, and engage directly with staff through intentional listening and support activities. Recommendations will be communicated to regional leadership to address barriers and implement strategies that enhance job satisfaction, effectiveness, and workforce stability.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Child Protective Investigator Supervisory experience
  • Teaching/Training Experience /Ability to create and present training materials to audience of varying size and skill level
  • Credentialed in LIFT I and II
  • Current/Active Child Welfare Certification credentials from the Florida Certification Board.
  • Five years of child protective investigations experience

  • Knowledge in data collection, analysis, and interpretation for training evaluation.
  • Knowledge in coaching, mentoring, and professional development practices.
  • Knowledge in curriculum development and training delivery methods.
  • Skill in facilitating workshops and presenting to large and diverse audiences.
  • Skill in analyzing case practice and identifying performance gaps.
  • Skill in developing targeted training interventions based on workforce needs.
  • Skill in using learning management systems and digital training platforms.
  • Ability to assess individual and team training needs.
  • Ability to observe and evaluate CPI performance and provide actionable feedback.
  • Ability to synthesize data and formulate recommendations for system-level improvements.
  • Ability to collaborate with supervisors and leadership to support workforce stability.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate training logistics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records of training participation and outcomes.
