OPS ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST I

This position is located in West Palm Beach

 

 

 

 

Position Overview and Responsibilities:

FDEP’s Southeast District is seeking an individual to work as an OPS Environmental Specialist (ES) I. The OPS ES I position(s) will be a part-time temporary position(s) working no more than 6 hours per week. 

 

The ES I level work supports, develops or enhances data-oriented systems or innovations to meet the district needs. Duties include developing or customizing systems, procedures, and policies for data management in a number of program areas, and assisting colleagues in performing data-related tasks, and networking with other districts and/or divisions within the agency. Assists with reports, quality assurance (QA), database updates, and other tasks that directly supports numerous program areas including but not limited to, Environmental Resources Program, Chapters 403, 373, 253, 258, applicable Florida Administrative Codes (F.A.C.), the Submerged Lands and Environmental Resources’ Operations and Procedures Manual, Department and Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund policies, Wastewater Management; Engineering, Hydrology, and Geology; Water Compliance and Enforcement; NDPES Stormwater;  GIS; and Drinking Water. 

 

  • Work with Innovation Committee to improve district data analytics
  • Improve data entry and data quality through automation techniques.
  • Provide guidance or recommendations on data quality by removing errors and/or inconsistencies
  • Provide recommendations on improving database management, and/or system analyses.
  • Recommend data innovations for increased district efficiencies.
  • Maintain and update data systems utilized for program management.
  • Perform related work as required

Support statewide efforts for innovation and other duties assigned.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to understand and apply applicable regulations, policies, and procedures relating to environmental programs.
  • Ability to evaluate, analyze, and interpret technical reports and supporting documentation.
  • Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and leadership.
  • Ability to interact with customers in a tactful and courteous manner.
  • Ability to use personal computers.
  • Ability to travel, overnight if needed
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

    • Valid Driver License 

 

Pay:
