OFFICE OF THE STATE ATTORNEY, 15TH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT

 

The State Attorney’s Office, 15th Judicial Circuit, is currently accepting applications for an ASSISTANT STATE ATTORNEY for our LEGAL AFFAIRS AND APPEALS UNIT.  This is an AT WILL POSITION.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position title:  Assistant State Attorney

Position summary and duties:

 

Applicants must have a law degree from an accredited law school, admittance and continued good standing with the Florida Bar, and five (5) years of experience in criminal and/or civil litigation.  Additionally, applicants should possess excellent writing skills and a working knowledge of the appellate process.  This position is responsible for representing the State in postconviction matters, including claims of ineffective assistance of counsel, newly discovered evidence, and requests for postconviction DNA testing. The position also includes the handling of Baker Act hearings (involuntary mental health commitments) on behalf of the state.

 

Salary and benefits:

 

The starting salary for this position is $90,000, negotiable depending on experience.  The position also provides a comprehensive benefit package, including:
