Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position, an employee of the Nassau County Health Department (NCHD), works to protect, promote, and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county, and community efforts. This position serves as the School Health Coordinator including the ESE program for the Nassau County School District. This position serves under the direct supervision of the Senior Public Health Services MGR-SES.
Planning: Plan and provide supervisory oversight of the School Health Program for DOH Nassau County School Health Program. Assure program report deadlines and other deliverables are met, delegating to other staff in chain of command as appropriate. Plan, promote and implement school health nursing programs in accordance with Florida Statutes and DOH administrative rules.
Supervisory: Supervises direct reports including motivating, training, providing guidance, and direction. Develops expectations and meets with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, and discipline action, if needed. Maintains vacation and work schedules to ensure proper coverage and completes timesheets. Ensures all staff complete required training and are offered additional training. Ensures nurses have and maintain a current license to practice in Florida. Ensures staff complete EARS and Everbridge drills.
Organizing and Directing: Review staff assignments and adjust as needed. Meet with Department of Education Intervention and Prevention Director to coordinate School Health services and procedures, including ESE for the Nassau County School District. Represent DOH-N at statewide School Health meetings. Participate as a member of the PMC team for DOH-Nassau.
Data Management: Review School Health Program data that have required standards to identify areas not being met and develop and implement a plan to meet the standard. Gathers, records, and reports statistical data relating to health concerns and nursing services. Use input from staff, community assessments, community partners to identify any needed areas of change and/or improvement of the services provided.
Budgeting: Review and assess the needs of the School Health Program to assure efficient and effective use of allocated dollars. Monitor assigned program budgets throughout the year and keep supervisor and budget manager informed of any increased expenditures. Responsible for preparation and approval for purchasing for assigned areas of management.
Training: Assure assigned staff complete all mandatory trainings and provide on-the-job training for new staff. Serve as a peer reviewer to improve staff performance by recognizing areas that need improvement through education and training. Assess, plan, implement and monitor the training for the Nassau County School District staff.
Setting and Reviewing Work Standards: Review assigned program activities, problems, and functions with the Supervisor to evaluate and revise work standards. Implement changes to ensure that standards, policies, and procedures are current. Stay abreast of current sch programs. Review work of staff through chart audits and on-site monitoring to ensure quality and efficiency in services delivered and to update as needed.
Other Clinical Duties: Participate in disaster preparedness and response activities as assigned.

Qualifications:
Minimum-
- Licensed Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Florida
- Supervises employees by assigning work, reviewing progress and assessing performance.
- Prepares and justifies budgets for health care programs/services. Monitors, analyzes and coordinates expenditures within allocation.
- Conducts inspections or programmatic evaluations and writes reports of findings, recommendations and corrective actions.
- Monitors the quality of care or standards of practice to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
- Develops, negotiates and implements public/private partnerships
Preferred-
- 3 or more documented years in a professional supervisory office setting
- 1-3 years in School Health Program Experience
- 1-3 years in a Pediatric Nursing Experience
