Your Specific Responsibilities:
Insert position duties and responsibilities being sure to pull from an up-to-date position description. Chief Deputy Registrar for Vital Statistics in Nassau County. Responsible for the over-all registration and certification of birth and death records.
Collects appropriate fees. Handles Safety Paper, runs reports.
Responsible for monitoring of County Tax Collector’s Office in issuance of birth certificates and usage of Safety Paper. Responsible for completion of the Vital Statistic Self-Assessment Tool and submitting to Business Manager and Administrator for review.
Responsible for coordination of Health Care Responsibility Act (HCRA) for Nassau County. Receives application for area hospitals, sends information via certified mail to possible clints and documents in HCRA database.
Acts as Records Management Liaison Officer, coordinating storage and destruction of personnel, fiscal, and client records in accordance with established policies.
Receptionist duties, responsible for courier items and mail process.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of administrative office support functions and ability to operate general office equipment.
- Knowledge of Nassau CHD departmental functions.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Intermediate computer skills, including typing, answering emails, data entry, navigating the internet, etc.
- Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data relating to administrative functions such as accounting, purchasing or report writing.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to organize and maintain confidential and sensitive materials.
- Ability to work well with others; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems
- Knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft Office and other software
- 2 years’ experience in customer service
- 1 year experience with cash handling
- Experience working with confidential information and/or documents
Preferred:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Notary
- Experience with Vital Statistics
