 WORKING TITLE: GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS CONSULTANT I

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL in Finance & Accounting.

The mission of the Finance & Accounting Department in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to ensure the responsible management of the Department's financial resources through accurate accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES: 

• Acts as primary for Statewide Travel Management System access control custodian.
• Performs or coordinates the monthly scoped compliance review.
• Back up to monthly post audits on a sample of vendor payments to include but not limited to STMS, MFMP, and FLAIR payments.
• Acts as primary for vendor add in FLAIR.
• Assists with other PALM related projects as directed by supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of FLAIR, STMS and WORKS
• Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data.
• Ability to conduct audits and prepare audit reports.
• Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to an accounting program.
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
• Ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, a calculator and general office equipment.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Must possess three (3) years of experience in accounting, auditing, or finance.
  • Postsecondary education may substitute for up to two (2) years of the required experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with Accounts Payable, PCard WORKS, Statewide Travel Management System (STMS).

Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.
