JOB SUMMARY:
The Information Services Program is seeking a data-focused technology professional to join the Database Administration team as a Systems Programmer I. This position supports the Department's need for strong data governance, data ownership, and repeatable data support services by helping translate business requests into technical requirements, data workflows, automation, documentation, and sustainable operational processes. The selected candidate will work across program areas, business teams, developers, database administrators, production control, and other partners to coordinate data-related requests, support SQL and database activities, assist with automation and scripting efforts, document ownership and accountability, and help manage projects involving data movement, reporting, validation, and process improvement. The successful candidate will communicate with business and technical stakeholders, document processes and requirements, support data governance initiatives, assist with database and reporting activities, and help improve operational processes through automation and workflow enhancements. This position is ideal for someone with a technical foundation in databases, reporting, scripting, and operational support who can bridge business needs with technical solutions in support of secure, auditable, and well-governed data services.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Work experience that demonstrates at least one year of preparation to perform data-related systems support duties.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
- Trainings, certifications, military services, internship experience, project work, or related work experience may be used to substitute all or part of the one-year minimum requirement when directly related to data-related systems support duties.
- Qualifying background may include databases, data workflows, reporting solutions, application data support, related information technology services, SQL, queries, scripts, reporting tools, automation tools, technical troubleshooting, business requirements documentation, technical procedures, support documentation, coordination with business and technical stakeholders, data governance, data quality, data stewardship, data ownership, auditing, compliance, operational controls, production support, change management, validation, data movement, interfaces, integrations, reporting processes, database-driven business applications, workflows, issue resolution, dependency analysis, or operational support documentation.
PREFERENCES:
- Experience using Microsoft SQL, Azure Data, Oracle Database, SQL, or PL/SQL.
- Experience in data governance, data stewardship, data quality, data management, or data classification.
- Experience using PowerShell, Python, ETL, reporting, workflow automation, or job scheduling.
- Experience in business analysis, project coordination, production control, service management, or technical documentation.
- CompTIA Data+, Project+, Security+, DAMA/CDMP, ITIL Foundation, PMP, CAPM, Scrum, Agile, or related credentials.
SPECIAL NOTES:
- This position is located in Tallahassee, FL.
SALARY: The tentative salary for this position is $54,072.14 annually.
